Access Statement 2011
Introduction
Our self catering apartment is on the ground floor of an apartment block. We have provided as much information as possible in this statement, if you have any queries please call us on 01726 842331
Pre-Arrival
We have a website www.sidmouthapartment.co.uk with photographs.
Bookings and enquiries can be made via email, telephone or post.
The nearest bus stop is 200 metres from the entrance.
The nearest train station is 8.5 miles at Honiton, or alternatively at Exeter
St David’s 15 miles away, Taxis are available from these stations.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
There is one allocated car parking space in front of the apartment in the private car park.
The car park is tarmac and some paving, it is flat and even with a slight incline to the front entrance door. The first parking space near the entrance door is our designated parking space and is 2 metres from the entrance door.
There is some street parking outside the apartment complex.
Main entrance
Apartment Block
The entrance to the front door is paved with a slight incline about 3cm. There is a hand rail on the left hand side.
The glass front door is hinged on the left and opens outwards.
The door is 76cm wide and the keyhole is 93cm high on the right.
There is a raised threshold 1.5cm high by 4.5cm deep.
Inside the entrance door is the entrance hall, it is 3metres by 3metres, there is a self cancelling light switch to the left by the door 100cm high.
On the wall opposite the entrance door are instructions for evacuation in the event of a fire.
There is a log book for the cleaners of the communal areas.
To the left of the entrance door are the apartment letterboxes ours is box No 23.
To the right of the entrance door is a staircase which leads to the upper floors of the apartment block. All the walls are magnolia, the woodwork (doors, frames and skirting) are white. The carpet is brown.
The Apartment No 23
To the rear of the corridor is a door which opens towards you and leads to the apartment.
This door is 75cm wide and is a fire door so is heavy with an assisted closer.
Inside the fire door is a corridor 88cm wide, to the right is the entrance to our apartment No 23.
A self cancelling light switch is situated inside the fire door 100cm high on the right.
The front door to our apartment is 3metres at the end of the corridor on the left.

The front door is 75cm wide and is a fire door, so is heavy, it has an assisted closer. It is hinged on the left and opens inward. The keyhole is 132cm high.
Inside the front door is a corridor 88cm wide leading to bedroom No 1.
To the right, the corridor leads to a door on the left which is the open plan living room, kitchen and dining area.
At the end of the corridor is Bedroom No 2.
The bathroom door is on the right.
There is a light switch on the right of the corridor132cm high near the front door and another on the right near bedroom No 2, 132cm high. There is a control box for the alarm system near the front door on the right, and on the left is the security telephone entry system 150cm high.
There is a smoke detector on the hall ceiling.
The central heating thermostat is situated in the hall between bedroom No 1 and the living room door and is 132cm high.
Living area
The door is 75cm wide and leads to an open plan room with light wood laminate flooring.
The living area is to the right and has two white leather settee’s one will
seat 3 people and one will seat 2 people.
In between the settee’s is a glass top coffee table 55cm square by 60cm high, it has a magazine shelf underneath and a table light with it’s own switch on top. There is a book for guests to write their comments in.
Situated at the end of the settee’s are boxes containing collections of reading books, DVD’s and video’s for guests to use.
In the far corner is a 32 inch wide screen TV on it’s own stand with DVD player, video recorder/player and digital TV box on the shelves underneath the stand.
All the furniture is movable and is non feather.
Double patio doors lead out to a patio sitting out area. When both doors are open the doorway is 100cm wide.
Kitchen/Dining area
The kitchen and dining area are facing you as you enter the room.
All the kitchen units are fixed and the worktop is 90cm high.
There are fitted cupboards at the side and underneath the worktop
There is a fitted fridge with a freezer below. The lowest shelf of the fridge is 115cm above the floor. The highest shelf is 185cm.
There is a double electric oven fitted underneath the worktop.
The oven doors drop down, the lowest shelf is 27cm above the floor.
The hob has 4 gas rings and is 98cm high.
There is a stainless steel sink 90cm high fitted in the worktop.
The kitchen is fitted with a dishwasher and a washing machine/dryer.
There is a fire blanket and fire extinguisher on the wall.
There is a combination gas boiler in a cupboard on the wall with timer controls to the right.
There is a breakfast bar with seating for 4 people. The seating has adjustable height seats which are upholstered and have a small back rest.
Patio area
There is a paved and gravelled patio accessible from the living area with wooden fence to the rear.
The double doors open inward to give 100cm width. There is a step down 17cm deep by 23cm high to the paved area 120cm by 140cm.
The patio area has access rights for the other apartments and is situated near the end of the block, we are rarely disturbed.
Our patio area has a metal round table with mosaic top. There are two matching chairs and a 2 seat bench with wooden slat seating.
All the patio furniture is movable.
Master Bedroom En - Suite
The bedroom door opens in to the room and is hinged on the left, the door width is 70cm wide.
A double bed is provided 6ft 3in x 4ft 6ins
The bed height is 60cm to the top of the mattress.
Non-feather duvet and pillows are provided.
Sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are polyester/cotton
There is transfer space all around the bed, except the bed head and the largest space is 1 metre at the foot of the bed.
The room also contains a chest of 4 draws/dressing table 100cm wide x 50cm deep x 75cm high
There is a matching freestanding wardrobe 110cm wide x 180cm high with 2 doors opening outwards.
Largest free space clear of the doors and furniture is 130cm x 260cm.
The flooring is short pile pink carpet.
En - Suite Shower Room & Wc
The en-suite shower room leads off the master bedroom. The door opens outwards towards you and is 75cm wide and hinged on the right.
The shower room is 200cm x 200cm. In front of you is a wash basin. To the right is a wc with 30cm clear space each side, it is 38cm to the toilet seat. There is a shower cubicle 75cm x 75cm with a door which open outwards hinged on the right. Maximum free space is 125cm x 75cm.
The flooring is short pile pink carpet.
Twin Bed Room
The door opens inwards and there is a width of 70cm.
Two twin beds are provided each one 3ft wide x 6ft 3ins long
The height of the beds is 60cm to the top of the mattress.
Non-feather duvets and pillows are provided.
Sheets duvet covers and pillowcases are polyester/cotton.
There is transfer space all around the beds, except the bed heads and the largest space is 1 metre at the foot of the beds.
The room also contains a chest of 4 draws/dressing table 100cm wide x50cm deep x75cm high.
There is a matching freestanding wardrobe 110cm wide x180cm high with 2- doors opening outwards.
Largest free space clear of doors and furniture is 130cm x 260cm.
The flooring is short pile pink carpet.
Bathroom & WC
The door opens outward into the corridor and is 75cm wide hinged on the right.
There is a bath to the left with flexible shower over.
The bath is 54cm high. There are handles either side of the bath in the middle.
There is a wc and the toilet seat is 38cm from the floor.
There is space of 30cm either side of the toilet.
There is a wash basin at the side of the wc.
Free space in the bathroom is 70cm x 150cm
The lock on the door can be released by using a flat head screwdriver.
The flooring is short pile pink carpet.
